The thing is that one GO was already BROKEN THROUGH — which exactly corresponds to the spirit of the rules, but one can nitpick the wording for a long time.
The guard of an inter-zone passage with an elevator or a two-way teleporter consists of two parts, including the GO. Both must be attacked. In the example with the Troglodytes, attacking them is already a violation of the rules, as has already been stated.
So I don't know what corresponds to what here.
I repeat once again that this clarification was originally introduced into the rules due to the presence of multiple guards on the map for ordinary inter-zone passages. Suppose the generator worked without errors, and the inter-zone guards always stood in the right place, eliminating bypassing. Then this clause in the rules would not be needed. And when crossing via an elevator or teleporter, you would have to attack both guards, as intended by the game developers. And in an ordinary passage with multiple guards, breaking through one would be sufficient, again, as intended by the developers.
At least on Bay, this rule is interpreted exactly that way.
If, however, the majority of players for some reason believes that bypassing, particularly a GO, is a correct, strategic, amusing, or otherwise permissible tactic, then you simply need to add a clarification to the rules or publish an official interpretation.
After all, each rule clause did not fall from the sky; it was introduced to regulate specific game situations related to bugs, shortcomings, or imbalances in the game.
