Writing separate rules for everyone is also highly questionable. You get to pick first in a greater number of games because your cards collectively have clearly better heroes, against which it is much harder to pick counter-heroes, and so on and so forth.

WisTrit, thank you for the explanation. I may be wrong, of course; I just wanted to know why the rules were changed and why I was "honored" with picking first more often. I didn't know you were taking the cards into account. Your post here explains everything.

I don't understand the complaints like "why am I picking first?!" Idiocy.

From my past experience playing duels (back in 2008, when the HeroesWorld rating still existed), I know that the one who picks first usually loses. It's very rare that a counter-hero cannot be chosen.
If both my opponent and I were picking first an equal number of times, there would be no dissatisfaction.

I perfectly understand Padme (because everyone wants to win), however, I'd like to point out that in that same league, the rules stipulated an odd number of games, and the one picking second did not always win.

Thank you for understanding! In the league, I think there were rules (back in 2008 when I participated) that the last (5th) game was created by the winner of the 4th, played on Obsidian Fields, meaning both players had a chance to create the final game.
Oh well, rules are rules (even if changed), I'll have to play as they are.

If someone has Ossir on their card, that card gets a higher status than a card that does not have an imba like Ossir. That's an example.
A card with "Ossir, Jalib, Karli" could not have happened.

But in general, is it possible that Valery and I will end up with the same heroes? Or do heroes not repeat across player cards?
Yes, whoever has Ossir has a greater chance.
