What were your expectations for Heroes 4?

didn't expect much, although I started playing with the third installment
but I wasn't disappointed

at the beginning, the hero is too weak, and at the end, he can single-handedly defeat an entire battalion.

you can reach the maximum levels on large maps and, of course, in campaigns
and I wouldn't say that the hero is that weak at the beginning
for example, even low-level heroes can gradually defeat armies by running away from them into the castle :D
I recently figured this out :lol: - now I often use this strategy at the beginning
