But if one person uses it and the other doesn't, it seems a bit unfair, in my opinion.
And raising the issue of fairness probably doesn't make sense, since the tournament has a rather friendly (not entirely competitive) atmosphere. For example, the rules state:
1. You can use additional files in the data folder and a modified executable to edit magic, units, objects, etc. - but judging by the reports, I don't see anyone doing that.
2. The starting hero is chosen randomly, and who gets to choose the faction first is not entirely clear - but there are cases where an opponent grabs the Swamp and puts in Tazar... even though Necropolis and Castle are banned, and all logistics heroes are banned - he still becomes a mega-cheater.
P.S. By the way, I don't use the "cranim.txt" file; I think it's an interference with the game's structure, because setting the "0" value for the unit animation delay leads to a cyclical repetition of various probabilistic indicators (morale, luck, unit abilities) - which is not good.
It's especially funny when you give your opponent an auto-win (due to morale against neutrals), and they sometimes still lose because they don't believe that morale can repeat.
Some people think that not using this file is disrespectful to the opponent because it wastes their time and your own.
And some people may not even know that this file exists.

by the way, there are text files there that fix the "non-appearance" of certain objects on certain landscapes, such as crypts on lava :)
