You, of course, know because your needs here align with your desires, while my perspective is different, and my choice would be much more difficult. Just because you believe that any virtue is a way to boost one's ego, it doesn't mean it actually is. Some people are raised in such a way that they simply cannot act differently; others don't want to feel like animals, etc.
We're discussing a hero who saves the world, an ordinary person. Where does it say in the topic that he's a sociopath and doesn't care about human society? Don't lump everyone together.
