From today onwards, new standards of literary Russian are in effect in Russia. Now, you can’t accuse someone of illiteracy for signing a “dOgovor” (with stress on the second syllable) instead of a “dogOvOr” (with stress on the first syllable), or for drinking “kREpkoe” coffee (with stress on the first syllable) instead of “krEpKOe” coffee (with stress on the second syllable). These standards are enshrined in dictionaries that the Ministry of Education and Science has approved as standard.
