The Kamchatka crab (Latin: Paralithodes camtschaticus), also known as the red king crab, is one of the largest crabs in the Far East and is a commercially important species. It is not a true crab but belongs to the family of king crabs (Lithodidae), which are related to hermit crabs. The main difference from true crabs (Brachyura) is that the fifth pair of walking legs is hidden under the carapace, meaning that it uses 3 pairs of legs instead of 4 for movement.
