If you're willing to dig through, find, and reread a lot of information, not always in Russian. If you really want to - you'll figure it out and install it, even BSD. I have Gentoo installed - it took me a month (or more) to set it up the first time - I hadn't seen Linux before that either. Gentoo is a kind of mix of Linux and BSD. But the principle is the same - compiling and building the system from source code. But there are also easier ways - the path of least resistance - to use Ubuntu or Mandriva. You will also learn what Linux is, but it will happen much slower than in the case of BSD, Gentoo, Slackware, Arch, etc. ;)
