In my opinion, it's theoretically possible to break through the ogre mages by using the terrain and clever butterfly tactics, BUT: 50 centaurs deal 100-150 damage to ogres, and there are 5 mages in the group, which is 300 hit points. If the centaurs always deal maximum damage, then the battle can actually be won without any centaur losses, by using butterflies to counterattack or by getting lucky at the right moment. But capturing the lair... Either the save is glitched, or the player was cheating. Maybe it was a combination of both :). Capturing a lair on level 6 with only centaurs, without losing a single unit. And not only that, but all the air units and dwarves are also intact:eek:.
Since you asked for capturing the lair on the FIRST try (without lucky strikes, without morale for the elf army, and with only one morale for the flies), there are 44 centaurs left!!! (and that was without the elves; imagine what would have happened if the centaurs had gotten lucky even once at the beginning)
They really scared the girl.... Here are her comments from ICQ:

Unfortunately, I can't prove anything, I don't save the games.
