But on the other hand, if they really focus on casual gamers and spend a small amount of resources, they could greatly disappoint the true fans of the series, who have long established a quality standard for themselves.
The fans of the series don't matter at all.
Examples: Dark Messiah (Might and Magic 10) - Can anyone say that this is a logical continuation of the Might and Magic series? The game itself is not bad, I'm not arguing, but it is in no way a continuation of the series, and this is an example of how the fans of the series are treated.
Second example: Fallout 3. What did they do to the fans of the series? That's right, they simply abandoned them, exchanging them for crowds of new players.
From everything said above, I want to emphasize only one thought: The fans of the series don't matter.
The developers will do what satisfies mass demand: that is, graphics and casual gameplay. If the fans accept the game, that's good; if not, they don't care, because the share of fans is much smaller than the share of casual gamers.
All of the above is my IMHO and does not claim to be the ultimate truth.
Good luck.
