I don't understand the meaning and purpose of this tournament.

If you don't understand the meaning of this tournament, how can you be against it?

To determine who plays better, there is a rating.

The rating doesn't reveal the strongest player, because strong players can play against weak players (and they usually do). In this tournament, the TOP players will be much more objective than the rating leaders, because the selection will be a Swiss system, and the top ten will play a round-robin among themselves. Then we'll see who is really good.

Setting the goal to play only against equally strong opponents is wrong.

Then play against weak players if you like.

And making a tournament to identify the strongest player in "your environment" is not interesting to me.
