I usually play as Warriors. I always level up Logistics, Earth Magic, Wisdom, and Attack! Among the primary skills, I choose Attack and Intelligence. My favorite hero from the standard ones is Kirr from Fortress, with the Logistics specialization. Among the mages, I also have a favorite – Loins from Castle, with the Prayer specialization. He's an overpowered mage. But in general, mages have a better chance of winning only in the first month. After that, with each passing day, it becomes increasingly difficult for them. I'd also like to add that about four years ago, I played exclusively as mages and almost never as warriors.
