I don't think so. Yes, the 280 chip will lose to a pair of 9800X2, for example, but that's also a matter of money (we all remember the "crisis"), but time and overclocking will put everything in its place, so I think this chip will still show its potential by spring (although it's not a fact that the arms race will again turn into a cold war in a year or two, as it was last year).
