I must disagree, as you are only considering vampires based on two game worlds, and as we know, there are many. The most important one, in my opinion, is the AD&D world of Harry Gigax. Firstly, it appeared earlier and is based exclusively on mythological creatures. Secondly, it is the most detailed and has been edited three (already three and a half :D) times. So, in this world, vampires are presented as noble beings who hate daylight, which is fatal to them. They are indifferent to garlic and silver, but this cannot be said about holy water. By the way, I recommend watching "Interview with the Vampire." This film best conveys their true (if one can express it that way :D) essence. And the depiction of them as monsters is all the work of Hollywood, to scare people :)
In the lower mythology of the peoples of Europe, a dead person who rises from the grave at night or appears in the form of a bat, sucking the blood of sleeping people, and causing nightmares. Vampires were "unclean" corpses - suicides, those who died prematurely, and those who died from vampire bites. It was believed that their bodies did not decompose in the graves, and their evil deeds could be stopped by driving an aspen stake into the vampire's body, beheading it, etc. Garlic, iron, bell ringing, and other things also served as protection against vampires
