We don't usually write about browser games, but the latest project from Ubisoft Entertainment has forced us to make an exception. In early 2008, the French publisher will release an online version of the Heroes of Might and Magic series.


The new time-killer for office workers is called Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms. The kingdom development process has much in common with the classic HoMM - thousands of players will explore the world map, capture resource sources, "level up" heroes, build cities, and recruit troops in turn-based mode. When they encounter neighbors, they can declare war, form an alliance, or simply trade. Without going into details, Ubisoft claims that "users are free to play at their own pace." In addition, the developers promise that Kingdoms will not require mandatory payments.


Interestingly, Ubisoft has not specified which studio is developing the project. The newly launched game website also does not disclose this information. In addition to a short promotional video and several pages explaining the essence of Kingdoms, it offers registration for the beta test, which will begin in early 2008. Another way to get a beta key is to purchase the Heroes of Might and Magic Complete Edition anthology, which was released in European stores yesterday.
