What was your first castle in Heroes 3?

Yeah... the author of the topic really set a challenging task – not an easy one, considering how long ago it was. Although the game was released on June 1, 1999, it reached our club in the fall, and that's when my journey "across three seas" into this fascinating world of heroes began.

1-Did you know in advance what you would be playing? (i.e., did you already know what types of castles there were, or did you decide to play based on your preferences from Heroes 2, or did you just choose randomly, or did you click through the castles and choose the one you liked based on its appearance and name).

Before the third Heroes game, I had some experience with the second, although not much, but nevertheless, it existed, which, albeit indirectly, influenced the choice of the "starting" race. And my choice fell on the race of ruthless and bloodthirsty barbarians, although I expected more from them in the third game, because it turned out that the monsters are not that fast (I chose the hero based on his appearance; I thought this "hamster" (a guy with puffed-up cheeks) looked so cool that it would be a sin not to choose him). Then, purely by chance, I came across the Inferno race, and I immediately understood that this was my native and desired race. That's how I fell in love with this race and still remain faithful to it, i.e., I serve it with faith and truth.

2-Were you able to win?

You're asking if I was able to win; I probably could have, if these monsters were not only "fat" but also fast, then I would have had a chance to "beat" these computers, even considering that I was playing for the first time, but I was on a roll.

3-What do you remember?

The unpredictability of the Arch-Devils, most likely, because my "chubby" monsters were simply crushed by the "skinny" Arch-Devils in a difficult battle with the computer. Then I realized that this is where the strength lies, the strength is not in the counterattack, and perhaps that's why my subsequent choice fell on Inferno.

4-What surprised you the most?

And in general, everything surprised me, every little thing that differed from the second Heroes game. And I especially liked the graphics, which reminded me so much of comics. Everything is so cartoonishly beautiful that sometimes you want to go back to childhood and remember the old days. Sincerely, K0Lb@zzeR.
