I won't try to make you feel worse; this mode of transport isn't the only option, and in the city, it's not very convenient, especially in Moscow without the infrastructure and with so many cars/pedestrians everywhere, and I never understood the point of riding around in circles in a park. But riding somewhere far away, to the Volga, for example, to see the sights, and then returning by train late at night... That's quite pleasant; you wouldn't be able to do that on roller skates or on foot, and it's boring in a car, but a bike is perfect for those situations.
