—Although, wait, maybe I jumped to conclusions too quickly. —After making this statement, she approaches a fire safety plan hanging on the wall and thoughtfully taps the knuckle of her finger on the partition between the living room and the bedrooms. —Of course, I can't demolish a load-bearing wall, but if you don't need to accommodate new trainees anytime soon, we can add a fifth wall for a new portrait.
—I agree. Then, if you need secretarial assistance or help in preparing the final version of the letter, feel free to ask; after all, some of my responsibilities are also involved here. Probably...
After personally taking charge of Kline for a short time, Erefir tried to outline all the current tasks to him, which, in her opinion, needed to be resolved in order to transform Carneol into an order and make it function properly. In principle, after all the corrections and additions (Kline is needed for this, in addition to writing), this should become the letter to Her Majesty.
Task 0: reward.
To boost morale for completing an impossible task (even if it turned out to be spontaneous for us), a reasonable monetary reward can be given (to the dragon slayers, including Kalina), keeping in mind that Her Highness Naera has already taken the liberty of distributing several artifacts among Carneol as preparation.
Task 1: initiation and ranks.
Status: the formal initiation ceremony for the current members will be held tomorrow morning, November 21st. However, additional people in the minimum rank may be required, including those without names, to perform simpler tasks (see below).
Suggestions: a small hierarchy. I would like to separate the dragon slayer knights, who have already managed to gain some fame with this collective achievement, by giving them special titles, which will positively affect motivation. Kline, who recently joined, has already proven himself in another task and definitely deserves to be a full-fledged knight, albeit without a special title. Named recruits should be initiated as squires so that this status changes in the next serious battle (is it important that this can be said publicly, or not?). Some people for additional activities, such as the maid, or any additional people that may be needed, remain in their status as servants/guards, which can be changed in case of certain merits.
Task 2: permanent income.
Status: several people left in the past, probably including because of this nuance. This money still goes, one way or another, to buy enhancing items or for intensive training, so not a single rem will be wasted.
Suggestion: ask Kline how best to organize the ratio of salaries, taking into account his experience at the villa. In the redhead's opinion, servants should have around 480, squires 640, knights 800, additional titles (such as the prefix "grand-" or for dragon slayers) or positions (such as secretary) +160, but this is just a rough estimate.
Task 2a: not for the Suzerain, but a general comment.
In reality, no reasonable salaries will ensure the competitiveness of Carneol's training with current prices. It would be good if everyone, literally everyone, eventually had a permanent source of income related to some useful activity. Not a part-time job as an apprentice for 2 rems per hour, but something appropriate for knights... Ideally, this would be an awarded plot of land, because that was once the point of this lower noble class, but in the classless Welfern, there will obviously be problems with this. Nevertheless, maybe the rewards for quests should be replaced with something with a greater focus on the future? What exactly, and how exactly - that's the question, but people should have something to fall back on so that they can equip themselves for heroic campaigns, and then there will be no particular need for salaries.
Task 3: food.
Status: a contract with the restaurant needs to be renewed; this will be decided by a personal visit tomorrow; the bill has been sent. In the future, a cook is needed in the fortress (note: the profession is not on the list for charm, but theoretically the problem can be solved through personal connections).
Task 4: guard/protection of the headquarters from invasion.
Status: it would be a bit too much to spend the forces of the few main members on 24-hour duty, but at the moment it is already clear that attention to Carneol is high, and we will not be able to exist as carefree as before.
Suggestions: newcomers/servants specifically for this job; significant combat experience is not required, the main thing is reliability, the ability to follow orders, and high perception. They will not save us from "ultimate" invisible spies, but they will protect us from theft and sabotage. After the relocation, these people can be used to populate the fortress (although more will be needed there). For a typical shift, ?? people are needed.
Also - several safes (a reasonable suggestion from Kline). It would be good to make a purchase, or give contacts of where to buy, due to the fact that Tentacle is no longer working.
Also - consultation with someone with relevant experience (Draco Mellis?).
Task 5: search and pursuit.
The status of the task is unsatisfactory, as one of the previous episodes showed. There is contact with Cassiopeia Eresaf, but she is not interested in permanent work, and no one has the skills of a hunter.
Possible solution: hiring (budget) or further training.
Task 6: information about Nephiria.
Mostly solved by hiring a suitable person (Tluassa Elfir), but there may be some subtleties unknown to our recruit.
Possible solution: exchange information with veterans on the front lines. It would be especially valuable to find those who have personally encountered Monogat, although the chances are slim.
Task 7: anti-air tactics.
The scrolls of flight in Discordia have run out; it would be good to arrange insurance for Kilike for a possible battle with airships.
Task 8: charter and oath.
Well, there should be a commitment to do good and not do bad. Ideally, it should be for pomp, but there are no more specific ideas. Well, maybe something will come up by tomorrow?
Has anything been forgotten?! The task with pockets is definitely not for the Suzerain.
