I think I have a rough idea of their attitude towards us, but I can't reconcile it with their actions; perhaps I'm missing some part of the story, or perhaps the Sovereign has simply been granting us phenomenal luck all this time.

-- In general... If the enemy is aware of the situation, they have likely taken the highest and most convenient mountain peak and brought a telescope with them. We won't be able to hide within a radius of many kilometers, and wherever we do hide, we won't be able to catch the dragon due to the unpredictability of its path.
