Vortex accepts the rice cake from Ayko with some confusion, but then a faint smile appears on her lips.
"Oh, that's so sweet. Thank you, Miss Ayko!" The Lunarian takes a bite of the dessert. "Oh, how delicious! It brings back so many memories... I haven't had a rice cake in so long..."
Unexpectedly, Vortex becomes sad, and a moment later, she starts to cry.
"The last time I was given a rice cake was by Arus... Oh, Arus, have you found peace after death? Oh, I'm sorry, Miss Ayko. I just remembered my beloved," Vortex wipes away her tears and quickly finishes the cake. "Arus was killed by a priestess of a powerful otherworldly goddess known as Rinze. That day changed the course of my life... so many years have passed, and I still can't forget the details of his death... But let's not dwell on sad things. We have a shelter waiting for us. Good luck to you, Miss Ayko. It could be very dangerous."
Vortex pats Ayko encouragingly on the shoulder, but in her heart, turmoil rages. After all, it was she who killed Arus. She gave his life in exchange for Rinze's favor. Oh, my dear, it was good with you, but could you ever compare to the True Empress? And yet, she doesn't want to remember any of it..
