Varya mournfully walked to her bed, as if not paying attention to her roommate. However, instead of lying down, the girl leaned over and took something wrapped in a towel from the bedside table – it turned out to be a dish. Refiteyka placed it on the table.
“Yuk-ka… You know what’s sad? You can’t go out, so you missed out on a gift. But I managed to come up with something.”
She opens the dish, and inside are cottage cheese pastries.
“Yuk-ka, happy birthday, I wish you happiness in your personal life!”
“Hurray!” she quietly added, with focused enthusiasm.
To be honest, when Varya was on kitchen duty at the monastery, the novices never asked for seconds. It was edible, in principle, but… Even boiled potatoes were constantly either overcooked or undercooked, not to mention the baked goods. The girl never understood why everyone’s mood dropped after eating her cooking; she herself felt fine… But maybe Yukka will appreciate it?
