Some believe that the map author simply copied the original Gambit of Maahir 1.0 scenario, made minimal changes, and that's it. But that's not the case.
First, the author added opponents to the map. They are all allied against you. If before there was only 1 opponent, now there are 4. Therefore, the strategy and dynamics of the game have changed.
Second, the author added neutral creatures to the map, significantly strengthened the garrisons, and also added passages on the map. The game has become more difficult.
Third, the author improved the AI; I don't know how, but the AI has stopped being dull. It now chooses more useful skills and spells and also increases luck and morale before battle.
Fourth, the map has become more diverse, as a dragon island and a new town have been added to it.

I would recommend that beginners complete the original scenario, and then, perhaps, version 2.0 on Warrior or Veteran difficulty. Why not on Hero? On Hero, you can only run through and take a look; there is no question of completing it. As far as I know, only 1 person has managed to complete it on Hero - that's Remix (he posted a Walkthrough), the rest boldly tried to start
