Well, she wasn't exactly an expert in lily cuisine, and she mostly ate coffee, but she did have one weakness, for which the picky eater would make a rare exception – it was spicy food. Invigorating, spicy food... And, judging by the fact that the restaurant clearly leaned towards all kinds of fried dishes, Coriel had a suitable recipe.
Strictly speaking, the girl wasn't sure if the dish she knew a little about originated in the Federation. On the other hand, the choice of ingredients and the way it was served looked quite in their style.
Coriel Na began to recall the visual image of how it was prepared... Cook the rice. Then add spices, cheese, egg, a pinch of salt, water, hot pepper. Mix everything and roll into balls.
This task was not easy, because for someone like Coriel, the lack of sphericity of the balls was like a red rag to a bull. The balls had to be perfect.
Now, the breading. Okay, it seems easy enough for now...
Now, heat the oil in a pot. The first problem is – how do you know when the oil is hot enough? An attempt to splash a little water into the oil to check resulted in an explosive reaction and a burned chin... "Ouch," was the silent mental reaction, but at least it became clear that the oil had heated up.
Using a spoon, the balls were carefully lowered into the oil, just for a moment, and... pulled out as shapeless lumps. How did that happen? Too much cheese, or what? And the lily tried so hard to make them spherical...
Overcoming the desire to immediately throw everything in the trash, Na still risked trying her creation. Hmm, the spiciness was hardly felt – maybe the pepper here is different, she should have added more. The rice is undercooked, hard (she had to mess up the simplest thing?). Too much salt...
Coriel sighed and repeated everything from the beginning, and then again and again... Finally, she got exactly what she wanted. A ball consisting mainly of pepper, and even in its cooled state, it was smoking, and the plate was steaming from it as if from a strong acid, but it was exactly what the lily loved, so that it burned right away, and the combination of the other ingredients, and the shape – everything was, in her opinion, just right.
Having satisfied her taste, the girl was still not so naive as to think that the restaurant owner would also like this hellish, scorching meteorite, so the rest of the balls, for the presentation, the lily made spicy, but in a more traditional sense.
The question of the name remained... Let it be "Com Chen Pho Mai" – this combination of some Eastern words just popped into her head when Coriel thought about the dish. Perhaps it was really called that, or maybe it was about something else, but if anything, she would probably be corrected?
