There isn't a final ending, but there is an interlude. And there will definitely be some expansions. Think of it as the end of the first volume in "War and Peace"; Napoleon didn't fall immediately, and Pierre's life didn't suddenly fall into place.
It just seems strange to me to criticize the introduction of a plotline for a continuation.
