Gulveig, having endured an uncountable number of blows, finally couldn't take it anymore and fell to the ground. It wasn't clear if a shield would have helped her in this fight, but she definitely overestimated her own strength; the spectators here were clearly experienced fighters. Without her healing powers, her position wasn't very advantageous.
