I restarted the first map.
In the second map, I got discouraged when I saw that my opponent had Dugald with two archer dwellings. I didn't get Hag. I spread out my heroes, leveled up two roaches with Goblin Support, and bought Daleb in the tavern to collect gold.
Garun got a log and carts with a healing potion on day 5. In the middle of day 2, I broke through to the Mine Town; it's huge, but at least it has a dwelling for Cyclops. When I was defending the ring of carts, I lost 69 Centaurs out of 96 on level 129 mages. I was looking for a passage to the adjacent area and had to choose which of the two remaining unexplored portals to go through. I chose the one closest to my hero; the other was three days away along the Path of War. I cleared my side, our interests intersected, and I thought I was breaking through there. I cleared the outer guard on that same turn; the portals in this area are close, so I chose the nearest one and ended up in my opponent's starting zone, almost right in front of their town.
I attacked, and they had a roach with almost all the available creatures. Garun, with a party of 22 Valkyries, 5 Cyclops, 90 Centaurs, and 140 Archers with a ring of carts, was killing everything. My opponent surrendered because Dugald was far away and had practically no army that could defeat mine.
Thanks for the game!
