Remember death
For it is near
Remember death
For it watches over you
Remember it and always remember
That one day it will take your soul forever
There will be no life, only it will be felt
A cold, bony hand
And your candle of life will be extinguished forever

The angel of Death appeared in my dream
To tell me about my unhappy fate
And Death tells me
That my soul is not destined to go to heaven with the angels.
I will have to suffer and burn in eternal flames,
Thus regretting my sins

Someone is always near me
Watching with a stern gaze,
Trying to understand me
Trying to know the pain in my soul.

Maybe, maybe it's from above,
Or someone from below
Is watching over me
Guiding me

One leads me to heaven,
So that I go to the light.
The other wants to destroy me,
To renew the pain in my soul and completely kill me.

The one who is near me
Leads with an invisible hand
Along the path to my destiny
For the good of my soul

And now I have gone to the light,
I know that I don't believe it.
Now I flutter,
Like a butterfly I fly

But if it were not so
And it became like this
I would be a ghost of the night
Moonlight would penetrate through me.

I would sit in the forest and sharpen my scythe
I would sit on a raven-horse and ride to where
Need is needed.

To take someone's soul,
To end a life
And then to grieve greatly
