That's why I wrote about open slave owners versus those who keep it a secret. Think about it: why would an Arteryian character work with (or even for) someone like that without a very good reason? And there isn't really a reason (unless he himself is a slave), considering that the player organization is far from the only employer in this world. A fanatical character would try to free the slaves. A non-fanatical one would simply find another job.
Not every character will take on just any task without giving it some thought. For example, in a conflict between two countries, one of which is where the character's family lives, it would be strange for him to support the other side if he loves his parents. It would also be strange for an Arteryian to take on quests against Reginalve in such situations, unless he is some kind of very special heresiarch.
