galeys, thank you for the feedback and kind words. I haven't played through the game myself, so I can only say that with the Warrior, you can comfortably play with any build. For the Chaos Knight, you can level up spellcasting with potions and then deal several thousand damage with Dragon's Breath. For the Dark Mage, I gathered skeletons and vampires with the help of a Necromancer for an hour and felt very good, in the second half of the game, the other units were almost not needed. But maybe that's what makes it an extreme difficulty, that it requires very specific character progression.
