Golems are a terrible unit; I wouldn't call them good in any situation, whether in attack or defense.
They are only effective under Razazak with the March ability; in other situations, they are useless.
Their only useful trait is their ability to repair/heal through chaos, i.e., through abilities rather than characteristics.
The initiative of magnetic golems is increased because it is an "attacking" upgrade (reduced durability and defense), as well as to allow them to run more often through fire walls, restoring health.
If you are going to reduce the initiative to 7, you will have to increase the damage by 1.5 times. Enhancing their abilities will not help much, as neutrals still don't use them, and golems are already an easy stack to break through (free experience).
They are already immune to slowing effects, as well as other magic (except for healing from chaos), thanks to their "enchanted armor."
