As for the turn timer, I don't really care about it in offline games. I'll still have time to do everything.

But what about offline tournaments? And you can create a map where even just winning against the AI is difficult; then you'll start paying attention to the turn timer. Plus, when evaluating the strength of a unit, you shouldn't forget about online play either.
