I wouldn't recommend playing as Lorelei herself. I tried it once, and she felt somewhat lackluster. Shakti is much better at clearing the map. However, playing with harpies is a different story. For example, you could start as Gunar, find Lorelei in the tavern, and in the town, you already have harpies built and a couple of their nests nearby. Then you can upgrade the harpies, and they become a decent asset for clearing the map. But making Lorelei the main hero... it's not clear why you would. Unless it's for the +1 to speed, but harpies aren't slow to begin with. Overall, her specialization doesn't seem to justify itself. And her starting skills are mediocre as well.
