The north wind brought fog and the smell of rotting swamps to the port city of Waterway. Along with it came disturbing news from Greystone. The ruler of Greystone requested assistance. The message, delivered in the morning, spoke of a demon attack. Antares, the great-nephew of the late King Alex and the new ruler of Waterway, sent a detachment under the command of his loyal comrade and friend, Rutger, to help their friends in the north. He himself decided to stay and fortify the city in case of war. But Rutger's campaign failed, and Rutger himself was captured and imprisoned.
