Might and Magic IV: Clouds of Xeen has no cheat console, but several secret words can be typed at its teleport mirrors.[1] The official cluebook from New World Computing (1992) says that nothing in the game hints at “Shangri-la” and “Count Du Money”, and prints them together with “Showtime”.[1]
How to enter the words
Walk up to a teleport mirror and type the word when the game asks where to go (“Where to?”). In Darkside of Xeen the mirrors stay inactive until a sundial in Castle Kalindra is adjusted.[2][3]
Mirror words
| Word | Effect | Sources |
|---|---|---|
Showtime | Plays the ending of Clouds of Xeen; it does not count as a win | [1][4] |
Count Du Money | Takes the party to a treasure room in the Dragon Cave | [1][3] |
Shangri-La | Takes the party to the hidden town of Shangri-La | [1][4][5] |
I lost it | Gives a Xeen Slayer Sword, the only weapon that can harm Lord Xeen | [2][3][4][6] |
Lord Xeen | Takes the party straight to Lord Xeen's throne room | [6][4][5] |
“I lost it” and “Lord Xeen” are documented only for World of Xeen (typed on the Clouds side); no source confirms them in the stand-alone 1992 Clouds of Xeen.[2][4][6]
Neither word is in the Clouds of Xeen cluebook (“I lost it” is printed in the later Darkside cluebook). The Speed Demos Archive run treats them, and “Showtime”, as cheating, while words learned in play, such as Shangri-La, are allowed; a TASVideos forum member calls the two words developer debug words found in the executable with a hex editor.[1][2][4][5] One cheat site also lists “Bogus” (leading to Lord Xeen); no other source confirms it, so it is not included here.[7]
ScummVM debugger
When the game runs in the fan engine ScummVM, Ctrl+Alt+D opens ScummVM's debugger, with commands such as gold, gems, spells, map and invincible. It is part of ScummVM, not of the original game.[8][9]
