Might and Magic V: Darkside of Xeen continues the mirror words of Clouds of Xeen: its official cluebook (New World Computing, 1993) lists words that play each of the three endings. Combined with Clouds of Xeen it forms World of Xeen, which adds a few more secrets.[1]
How to enter the words
Walk up to a teleport mirror and type the word when the game asks where to go (“Where to?”). In Darkside of Xeen the mirrors stay inactive until a sundial in Castle Kalindra is adjusted.[1][1]
Mirror words
| Word | Effect | Sources |
|---|---|---|
Showdown | Plays the ending of Darkside of Xeen; it does not count as a win | [1][1][1] |
Genesis | Plays the third ending, that of World of Xeen. Cheat sites say it needs both games installed, but a player reports that it also works with Darkside alone (see below) | [1][1][1][1][1] |
Showtime | Plays the ending of Clouds of Xeen, if Clouds is installed | [1][1] |
I lost it | Gives a Xeen Slayer Sword (typed at a mirror on the Clouds side of World of Xeen) | [1][1][1] |
A player on the GOG forum reports that with Darkside of Xeen installed alone, “genesis” works but “showtime” crashes the game.[1]
The terminal in the Dungeon of Death
In World of Xeen, at the terminal at the end of the Dungeon of Death (on the Clouds of Xeen side), answering COMPUTER gives the party the “Super Goober” award; just reaching the terminal earns “Goober”.[1][1]
Not a cheat: Forbidden Zone
Cheat sites present “Forbidden Zone” as a code leading to a hidden area, but the official cluebook lists it among the ordinary mirror destinations of Darkside.[1][1][1]
