King's Bounty: Armored Princess

Edit Summary: King's Bounty: Armored Princess — game overview with inline sources.

King's Bounty: Armored Princess (2009; Russian title «King's Bounty: Принцесса в доспехах») is a standalone follow-up to The Legend by Katauri Interactive and 1C[1][1]. Princess Amelie, now grown up, travels to the world of Teana to find her mentor, Bill Gilbert[1][1].

Release

  • Announced on 31 October 2008 as a standalone add-on to The Legend[1].
  • Released in Russia on 10 April 2009[1][1]; Steam and Metacritic list the international release as 19 November 2009[1][1]. A Mac version followed on 5 April 2012[1].

Story

Ten years have passed: Amelie has learned the art of war, Bill Gilbert set off to find new worlds and never returned, and Baal, imprisoned forever, has escaped and wants revenge[1].

Gameplay

  • A new race, the bloodthirsty Lizards, and five new bosses[1][1].
  • Amelie is accompanied by a pet dragon that grows with her; its abilities range from treasure hunting and direct attacks to summoning volcanic eruptions on the battlefield[1][1].
  • She can fly — on a pegasus — to reach otherwise inaccessible areas[1][1]; the world spans more than ten islands and continents[1].
  • Warrior, Paladin and Mage classes, and companions to recruit[1]. The creatures are listed on Armored Princess — factions and creatures.

Reception

  • Metacritic: 82 from 25 critic reviews[1].
  • Eurogamer's Alec Meer, for whom The Legend had been the game of the year, noted that it is essentially the same game again[1]; 3DNews called it a full new game of some forty hours[1].

In 2010 it received the standalone expansion Crossworlds. Store links: where to buy the King's Bounty games.
