ASHA, the Original Dragon of Order, creates the world, giving it form and purpose. Then she gives birth to the Elemental Dragons, whose destiny is to guide and govern the world she created.
Mortal races are created as "servants of the Dragon Gods" and distributed across the land. Each chooses its own gift and patron. The calm and contemplative Elves choose Silanna, the Earth Dragon.
Wars of the Elders - Angels launch a campaign against the Faceless. The destruction is terrible, and the oldest races suffer extremely during the war. Early civilizations and kingdoms of the Elves are destroyed. The Original Dragons become a myth and are gradually forgotten. The peoples worship only the Elemental Dragons.
Our Time28-40 A.D.: Wars of Fire The first great invasion of Demons. Before the Wars of Fire, little was known about the Elves. Nevertheless, it was the Elves who called all peoples to unite in the war against the Demons, and many of the best generals of that war were from the Elven people. It was the Elves who held back the onslaught of the final Demon attack while the Seventh Dragon prepared its final destructive spell - although humans no longer remember this.
50-260 A.D.: Years of Healing - creation of Irollan Recovery from the Wars of Fire and relatively harmonious relations between the peoples. Large parts of the Elven forests were burned by demons, who scarred the land and poisoned the water. After the wars ended, the Elves retreated to their wounded land and spent the Years of Healing restoring it, planting new groves, purifying the waters, and erasing the slightest traces of the demons' presence in their lands. Thus was the kingdom of Irollan created.
528 A.D.: Separation of Tuidhana Listening to his flattering servants, the third Elven king, Arniel, decided that elven power was too decentralized and the method of electing the High King was too unsystematic. Instead, he proposed centralizing power by making it hereditary. While many protested these innovations, only Tuidhanna, queen of a small elven country bordering the Empire of the Falcon, dared to act and proclaimed her independence.
540 A.D.: War of Bitter Ash - birth of the Dark Elves For their part, the knights of the Holy Empire of the Falcon saw new opportunities in this Schism and attacked Tuidhanna's borders. She turned to Arniel for help, but her messengers were driven from the court, and no one heeded their pleas. "She decided to live and rule alone, so let her fight alone" - such was Arniel's decree, and until humans had practically destroyed the entire kingdom of Tuidhanna, he took no action.
When Tuidhanna was sufficiently humbled (as Arniel believed), he sent his troops to the border and entered into what is known as the War of Ash with the humans. Neither side took into account the elves on whose land all military actions were taking place. Desperate to protect her people, Tuidhanna turned to other allies. Her lands were burned and her subjects killed, and she entered into an agreement with one of the few surviving Faceless, who were rumored to have long since gone extinct. If she and her people would worship Malassa, the Dragon of Darkness, then the Faceless would give her the strength and power she desired - these were the terms of the agreement. Tuidhanna made this deal, and thus the surviving inhabitants of her kingdom became Dark Elves. Both humans and elves were expelled from the disputed territories, and Tuidhanna once again proclaimed her independence. An uneasy peace was established between the Elves and the Dark Elves.
566 A.D.: Day of Fire Tears - death of Tuidhanna The elven capital burns in a great fire. High King Arniel dies in the flames along with most of his close associates. Britigga, Mother of Trees, revered by the Elves as a saint, also perishes in the fire. The loss to the Elves is irreparable. Dark Elves are accused of arson. Arniel's son, Vaniel, gives them a choice: exile or death. Most choose exile; those who remain are hunted and killed without regret or mercy. Tuidhanna remains with her lands and perishes at the hands of the Elves.
The place where Britigga stood was erased from all maps, and to this day no Elf will go there. Another Mother of Trees, hidden deep in the forests, was illuminated by the Elves, but none of them mention a word about her to foreigners.
585 A.D.: Discovery of Demon involvement in the Day of Fire Tears The Dragon Knights present evidence to the Elves confirming that the arson of the Elven capital was carried out by a Demon spy. Messengers are sent to the wandering Dark Elves with an offer of amnesty and return home. The offer is rejected.
756 A.D.: Death of Vaniel Vaniel is succeeded by King Alaron, whose gaze is directed beyond the forest. He gradually restores relations with other peoples. Alaron helps the Mages of the Silver Cities in their war against Necromancers and encourages merchants to come to the elven borders.
951 A.D.: Fifth Eclipse - War of the Grey Commonwealth Alaron leads the Elven troops out of the forests, joining the knights of the Empire of the Falcon and the Mages of the Silver Cities, forming the unfortunate Grey Commonwealth. The hordes of demons were finally defeated, but the price of victory proved terrible for the Commonwealth.
