Heroes of Might and Magic II (The Succession Wars) and its expansion The Price of Loyalty respond to the same cheat codes.[1][2] Four of them are confirmed by players on our forum, and there is also a hidden debug menu that is switched on from the command line.[3]
How to enter the codes
Type the number while playing a scenario on the adventure map; for the dragon code, select a hero first. The dragon code does not work in the town screen.[4][1] A player who used cheats can be marked as a cheater in the end-of-game rating.[4][5]
Cheat codes
| Code | Effect | Sources |
|---|---|---|
8675309 | Reveals the whole map | [3][5][4][1] |
32167 | Adds 5 Black Dragons to the selected hero's army; the hero needs a free army slot. It can be used again for the other heroes. | [3][5][4][1] |
911 | Instantly wins the current scenario (in a campaign, moves on to the next mission) | [3][4][1] |
1313 | Instantly loses the current scenario | [3][4][1] |
Debug menu
Start the Windows version with the /nwc switch (for example, a shortcut whose target is HEROES2W.EXE /NWC), then press F4 to switch to windowed mode: a Debug menu appears next to File and Help. It gives extra movement, spells, resources and creatures and lets you choose secondary skills.[3][4][1] Unlike Heroes III, the debug mode of Heroes II can be switched off without restarting the game.[6]
Codes that are not confirmed
Cheat sites credit 101495 with different effects for Heroes II (one calls it the obelisk map, another “instant exploring”); it is really the map code of the first Heroes.[4][1][3] Numbers such as 1911, 123456789 or the resource codes appear only on such sites and are not confirmed by players. None of them is listed here.[4]
