Might and Magic The Card Game is a free-to-play strategy card game set in the Might and Magic universe, developed by Ubisoft Paris Mobile Games in partnership with Immutable[1]. Its world is the Sea of Fates, a multiverse left behind by apocalyptic events[1]. It was announced and launched as Might & Magic Fates; in 2026 its store pages and official website switched to the current name[2][3][4].

History

  • In November 2023 Ubisoft registered the domains mightandmagicfates.com and might-and-magic-fates.com; at the time the press linked the name to job openings for a large open-world game[5][6].
  • Ubisoft announced the game on 23 April 2025 as a free-to-play mobile trading card game[7][8], made together with the Web3 company Immutable[9].
  • An open beta on Android began in December 2025, first in Poland and Ukraine, and progress carried over to the full release[10].
  • The game launched worldwide on iOS and Android on 4 February 2026[1][11].
  • Steam Early Access followed on 16 February 2026, with cross-platform play and progress shared with mobile through an Immutable account[2][12]. Steam Deck support was announced on 20 February 2026[13].

How it plays

  • Gold instead of mana: gold is generated from the cards in hand rather than by a fixed per-turn ramp[7][1].
  • A single-lane board on which heroes, units and buildings are deployed, so placement matters for the rest of the match[1].
  • The hero is on the board: it fights beside its creatures, equips artifacts, gains experience during the match and unlocks abilities; the match ends when a hero dies[1][12].
  • Card types: heroes, units, buildings, spells and artifacts, with keywords such as flying and flanking. Rarities: common, rare, epic and legendary; cards can also be foil, animated or tradable[12].
  • Open deck building: a deck may use any card in the collection, whatever the hero's faction[1][7].
  • More than 250 cards and four factions at the start of Early Access, with ranked and casual PvP, quests and single-player content[2].

Factions

The game launched with Haven, Necropolis, Inferno and Academy[2]. Stronghold joined with the third season on 23 June 2026, and Sylvan — elves, druids, beasts and dragons, led by the hero Ossir, with a new Stealth mechanic — with the fifth on 29 September 2026[13].

Business model and card trading

The game is free to play; on Steam the developers describe the purchases as optional[2], while the mobile versions also sell packs, a battle pass and a weekly subscription[14]. Booster packs can be bought with gold earned by playing[12]. In eligible regions cards can be traded on an external marketplace built on Immutable's technology; Ubisoft says trading is optional and gives no competitive advantage, and tradable and ordinary cards play identically[7][12]. The blockchain layer was the first thing much of the press wrote about[15][9].

Reception

  • Two days after the Steam launch the reviews there were 58% positive; players praised the gold system and the hero on the board, and criticised pack progression and the odds of legendary cards[16].
  • In early October 2026 the Steam rating was "Mixed", 51% positive of 1,846 reviews[2]. The App Store listing showed 4.6 out of 5[14].
  • On Steam the game peaked at 778 concurrent players in February 2026; the monthly average had fallen to about 150 by September 2026 (mobile figures are not public)[17].
  • Fans recalled the earlier Ubisoft card game, Might & Magic: Duel of Champions, hoping for a worthy successor despite the focus on NFTs[18].
