Nose: smoked fish, dark strong beer, smoke, and a birch broom. Somewhere very far away, there are sweet and slightly suffocating malt and vegetables.
Taste: charcoal and wood, rubber, peat, and eggplant (the vegetable theme in general).
The finish is simply wood.

Wow. It's like it got 10 years younger.
Nose: peat and creosote, and a slightly salty freshness of Essentuki water, and a dusty hint of hazelnut and walnut, and the strongest Gavis tobacco, and somewhere among all this, cherry, cherry! Absolutely awesome.
Taste: as if I ate an autumn forest whole, with raw earth, moss, rotten leaves, and overripe berries, rotten roots, and lost hopes.
Finish: bitter and long like a war, full of coals and fire.

Nose: chocolate, coffee, smoke, bitter herbs.
Taste: a lot of bitterness, herbs, and wood, and also black pepper and, of course, tar.
Finish: very woody, slightly coffee-like, long, suffocating, but that's actually a plus.

Ezra Brooks 99

Good. Slightly alcoholic, with a sweet and spicy aroma of chocolate and oak. The taste is not as pronounced, but very smooth. Closer to a "briny" bourbon than a "lacquered" one; the latter is only present in the sweetness. It pleasantly warms and leaves a light aftertaste, and the 49.5% ABV is very pleasant.

Cave de Turckheim Pinot Gris

More than decent. Mineral and apple notes, with a "industrial" aroma, tropical, slightly honeyed, and oily on the palate. It seems like a semi-dry wine, but surprisingly, it doesn't taste like it's been thrown out the window. Very good. Maybe a bit rough and simple, but soft and bright, and anyway, my nose is congested, so I don't need a hundred different nuances. Lately, I've really started to appreciate Alsace wines.

It's okay. Quite an interesting spicy, roasted, and nutty aroma, with the typical Italian acidity on the palate, but slightly more earthy and creamy than usual. Decent, but nothing more. 7.5/10

Very good. Lots of fruit, mineral notes, slightly creamy, similar to a less dry and less acidic Petit Chablis. Not as philosophical, but just as delicious.

Dogma Marselan - Carménère (Premium Blend)


My expectations were quite high due to its rating on Vivino (as it turned out later, I was looking at "Reserva Especial," not "Premium Blend," but that's not important). The cheap cork was a bit off-putting. But in the end, the wine exceeded even my high expectations. It's simply a masterpiece. With a wine like this, you could accidentally become an alcoholic.

I'm not very good at describing things:
- the color is beautiful, dark, and intense
- the taste is extremely rich
- there's blackcurrant, and there's pepper. There are probably red berries too, but I can't distinguish which ones – I'm just lost in the variety of flavors.
- I have some strange and pleasant association with a campfire/smoke. It's as if you can taste smoked cheese cooked over juniper wood. I understand that this isn't something you'd normally find in wine, but I'm writing down what I feel.
- the wine is quite strong and has a noticeable effect.

Overall 10/10, I'm completely delighted; this is the best wine I've had in the last fifteen years. "Reserva Especial" would probably be even better.

Hmm... I haven't been drinking New World wines for many years, but if I see it, I might make an exception.

Mac-Talla Mara

Nose: dense leafy smoke, old sneakers, smoked sausage with mold, seaweed, silt and other aquatic themes, thyme, anise
Taste: lots of citrus, apple pie, charcoal, tobacco ash, anise. Sweetish,
Finish: salty, smoky, silty, berry, not too expressive, but very long. Okay.

At first, it didn't quite appeal to me; the smell of the sole was too strong, and the citrus stood out, but as it opened up, I even regretted that it finished so quickly. Maybe I'll get another bottle. And 58.2% is very pleasant and not too strong here.
