Combined offline-online tournament of the "Treasure Isle" type (on the TE patch)

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. To participate in the TE patch tournament for Heroes 1 "Treasure Isle", you must have Heroes 1 installed, as well as the TE patch downloaded on your computer. ;)

2. The tournament will be held on the Russian version 1.1 of Heroes 1 from Buky with the TE_1.04 patch installed.
Saves from the original version of the game (or with a different version of the TE patch) will not be considered, i.e., the game must only run on the TE_1.04 patch!!!
All information regarding the installation of the patch is provided here
You can ask any questions about the patch in this topic.

3. Game Objective:
- in offline mode, by the end of the 15th game day, leave only one hero who will participate in the decisive battle with a human opponent on the arena. Naturally, this hero needs to be given the best of everything (preparing him for this battle), artifacts, troops, magic. ;)
- conduct battles in online mode on a special arena (Arena maps will be sent by mail to all participants of the game), where there will be both the final heroes of the player and the heroes of the opponents, transferred from the "Treasure Isle" map; Within the time specified in these rules, battles in online mode must be held according to the following regulations:
each player has a battle up to 3 wins! If a draw occurs in a battle, the battle is replayed. The winning player is awarded 1 point, the losing player 0.
If, based on the total number of points scored in a round-robin system, a winner cannot be determined, the players who have scored the same number of points will play each other again until one wins.
There can be no draws in this particular tournament!:smile16:
Only Might and Magic will determine the winner.

Notes:
- temporary bonuses obtained by visiting objects that increase morale or luck are not transferred to the arena;
- if a player cannot personally conduct his battles on the Arena, he will be assigned a second, who will conduct these battles instead of him.

The winner of this tournament receives a prize in the form of a cup with the TE logo (or another, designed specifically for this type of tournament).:smile49:

4. List of prohibited techniques:
- Digging up the Grail without visiting all the obelisks;
- Restarting the game, i.e., you can only play from the starting (downloaded) save;
- Using cheat programs, codes, and additional programs that can change the structure of the game.

Note - it is allowed to use programs listed on the website www.handbookhmm1.narod.ru in the section 24. Programs and utilities.

5. Send the save to the email address VDV_forever@bk.ru

The sent save must contain the player's Nickname.

Example:

VDV_forever.GM1

6. The result of a player who used cheats during the game will be annulled!

7. The tournament starts on February 25, 2011, and will last until:

- March 25, 2011 (inclusive!), Moscow time - offline;
- April 10, 2011 - online.

The final results of the tournament will be announced on April 15, 2011.

8. After receiving your save, you will receive a confirmation by E-mail.

All about the starting save

The starting save Start_4_TE.GM1

Sequence of actions:

1. Download patch 1.04 TE, mirror and place it in the root directory with the installed game.

2. Download save.

3. The downloaded save must be placed on your computer in the GAMES folder of the installed Heroes 1.

4. Run H1TE_Offline.exe and load the save, starting the game at any time that is convenient for you, while remembering to make daily saves.

5. After completing the last action stipulated in the tournament, you must save again.

6. A complete description of the tournament map is encouraged (not required). If there are any, they will also be posted on the reference website http://handbookhmm1.narod.ru/!

7. Send this save to the specified address (in the rules of this tournament).

8. Wait for the results to be announced.

If there are additions or comments, please do not hesitate to express them in order to minimize disagreements and shortcomings in the process of conducting the tournament.

All those who wish are invited to try their hand in the beloved, reborn, and carefully reworked game!:smile13:
All players are in absolutely equal conditions - because now, everyone can win! ;)

This tournament is a ranking tournament and is published on the website http://www.reytinghmm1.ho.ua/, so you need to start earning your rating now, since at the end of the year the best player on our site in the ranking will receive a separate prize in the form of a cup of the absolute winner, as well as an honorary certificate sent by mail. The rating will be awarded for 2011.

Are many people participating?

It's hard to say, as we haven't received many save files yet:(
Meanwhile, the tournament has been extended until April 15th.;)

The idea is great; it’s a shame I never played the first Heroes game.

Thank you! It's never too late to start.;)

Or maybe, like two years ago, we could organize a joint event on the Buk platform, bringing together all the best players. I would gladly learn from them.

Or maybe, like 2 years ago on Book, we could hold a joint event between resources, gather all the strongest players. I would gladly learn from them.

If you really want to compare your skills, I invite you to participate in the recently opened prize tournament "4 Ways of Die". ;)

I would like to point out that the tournament is held on the TE patch, which means that it will no longer be possible to easily eliminate strong heroes from the game when it is "convenient". However, it will also not be possible to use other bugs in the game (which are successfully used on Book). :)

Moreover, I am ready to make a no-lose bet with you.
If you manage to beat me in this tournament, then 1000@ will be credited to your personal account on HP. Also, just like any other player, you have a chance to win the main prize – the collector's edition of the Heroes game "Beginning".

My save, despite its ranking, will not be eligible for the main prize. And even if it suddenly turns out to be the winning one, the main prize will go to the player whose save is second in the final results table.

P.S. Due to the buggy nature of the Book version of the game, I stopped using it as a gaming product 2 years ago. It is also not planned to hold tournaments on a clean Book version. Only on TE. There is no need to deceive ourselves; we need to play fairly. ;)

Sincerely, VDV_forever

You are unduly considering the bug with overpowered AI heroes as a fatal flaw. It can always be addressed with rules. And it can only be applied in a small number of tournaments. It's a shame that you think I'm only taking note of this tactic.
It's a shame that you are treating a great game this way. And I don't play TE; it's more like a mod, similar to WoG for Heroes III.

You are wrong to think that the bug with overpowered heroes in the campaign is so fatal. It can always be addressed with rules. And it can only be used in a small number of tournaments. It's a pity that you think I'm only considering this trick.
It's a pity that you treat a great game this way. And I don't play TE, it's more like a mod, like WoG for Heroes III.

As practice shows, fatal bugs are sometimes not recognized by the leading players, and that's sad...:(

It's a pity that you backed down :) I spent no more than 6 hours on the walkthrough. I would have been glad to have a competitive process, especially since I know you as a player firsthand.;)
A great game will forever remain so - the best game of all time!:smile13:

The TE patch makes the game truly classic, playable, and great, eliminating both major bugs and adding unrealized projects (from the developers themselves!).:smile02:

A bug cannot be either fatal or non-fatal. It either is a bug or it isn't. And the moderator was absolutely right when he pointed out that in the TTG on the Jester map, some players used a tactic involving a computer-controlled hero with around 10-12 archers, a horde of peasants, and 15 neutral druids. While the army's strength wasn't drastically different, as in the case of a fatal loss of a super-hero companion, no amount of morale or luck would allow winning this battle against the druids.

And the host was absolutely right when he pointed out that in the TTG tournament on the Jester map, some players used a tactic where a computer-controlled hero would attack with, say, 10-12 archers, an army of peasants, and 15 neutral druids. In this case, the army's strength wasn't orders of magnitude greater, as in the case of a fatal defeat of a super-hero controlled by the computer, but no amount of morale or luck would allow winning this battle against the druids.

Well, you came up with the idea of a "fatal bug" a few posts ago. Of course, it's either a bug or it isn't.

It's clear that you, like the host of that tournament, don't know the theory well enough, along with the practice, which is why you play with bugs, unfortunately.
I strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with the following articles:

10) Research papers on the study of the most significant bugs in the game.

- A theory of the "Tale of how computers break through neutral units..." in 3 parts (author AlexSPl).

- A study of the bug related to the computer's heroes merging with neutral monsters when the turn is passed (author VDV_forever with comments by AlexSPl).

http://handbookhmm1.narod.ru/download.html

And I'm just upset to hear you say such things about TTG (and especially from the host. ) :smile48: When was the last time you loaded the saves from that tournament, or at least read the descriptions for them? :p

http://handbookhmm1.narod.ru/descriptions_saves/Dzhester/VDV_forever.7z

If you're too lazy and don't understand, I'll explain it simply and without using scientific terms (it's a pity that I have to explain such elementary things).

1. So, load the save: Day 112-10. Fast forward (i.e., pass the turn).
Before that, for completeness, I recommend opening the map (101495 and the LM Oracle H1 program).

when the turn is passed, the computer will always break through the druids

Why!? How is that possible?! Isn't that a bug?:D

before:

after:

That is, Amrocius, after visiting the gazebo, increases his level by 1 (which means that all events on the map become the same)! He joins the fairy and easily and effortlessly breaks through the druids, which is natural and correct!.:smile01:

I'll even reveal a small secret to you: there are no bugs related to the computer breaking through monsters (and I'm sure there won't be any) :)

http://handbookhmm1.narod.ru/23.html (read about PPX)

about the bug with phoenixes and dragons, and with cyclops, do I also need to explain, or will you figure it out yourself?

VDV_forever always plays fairly and according to the rules!

P.S. I hope to still receive an apology from you.

If you can replicate this battle, even with frequent morale drops, then I will, of course, apologize to you. It is obvious that the Stone Druids will not leave a single stone standing of this modest army. And I didn't want to argue about anything at all. I was just trying to invite you to participate in Portal tournaments or in team games. You are essentially trying to erase that wonderful period of your magnificent game on Portal from memory.

What does my play and the computer's play have to do with it WHEN BREAKING THROUGH MONSTERS!? (not when throwing the game) given that in reality it does not engage in battle like a human (I think you should be aware of this).;)

Once again, I strongly urge you to familiarize yourself with the articles referenced above.:smile16:

And I did not intend to argue about anything at all.

This was not an argument, but an unjustified attack. These are somewhat different things.
Thundax

I was only trying to invite you to participate in Portal tournaments or joint events. You are essentially trying to erase that wonderful period of your excellent gameplay on the Portal from memory.

Thank you, but I have tried to give you a reasoned response as to why I do not want to participate in tournaments where all players are in different conditions, and bugged saves are readily accepted by organizers who did not fully understand the situation (or did not want to, and now that the picture is "clear as day," it seems awkward to change things).

Nonetheless, if the tournaments on the Portal were held on TE, I would take part in them with great pleasure (although time has been extremely tight lately, work is just insane. I don't even have time to work on the guide, even though I've already gathered material for half a guide.).:smile08: :smile24:

And if you personally are not interested in the competitive process, playing on equal footing with strong opponents, you can continue to play against weak ones. But that certainly won't make you play stronger.:smile13:
Think about my words.;)
