As I understand, the rights to the Heroes and everything related to them now belong to Ubisoft. What if all the fans chipped in and bought the source code for the third Heroes game for the benefit of modders? The game is no longer commercially viable anyway, and this way they could at least make some money. We could find some super reliable person, organize a fund, and so on. The main thing is Ubisoft's consent and reaching an agreement on the price. Just imagine the possibilities that would open up for modders!

Yes, for most, it's the usual situation, and those who are willing to offer something clearly won't meet the anniversary price.
