Well, if you think about it, any alternative band is similar to Slipknot; the structure is the same, the style is the same, everything is the same. The only difference is that Slipknot is heavier, so it seems like they are different things.

Ha-ha-ha :D In that case, Melnitsa and "Satanakozel" are the same, only "Satanakozel" is heavier :D There are many bands that are heavier than Slipknot ;)
The rhythm and structure of the music are different, not to mention the lyrics and performance style.
I'm saying that Sleep is just a template, an alternative, but heavier than a bunch of other bands.
And so what if there are a lot of bands heavier than Sleep?

Judging by the argument (which seems to be about nothing), it seems everyone thinks alternative music is just another form of nu-metal, but that's not the case... As for the similarities, it's because of the early alternative styles (grunge, hardcore, funk metal); their foundations are present in any self-respecting alternative band... The alternative genre should be energetic... And a band that isn't similar to Slipknot is S.O.A.D, at least because it's not nu-metal, or the band TOOL...

Kerrang! - Corey Taylor's Solo Album In the latest issue of Kerrang!, Corey talks about his plans for his own solo album. Below is an excerpt from this article:
"This is something I want to do purely for myself," says Corey, who is currently on tour with Slipknot in support of their latest album, All Hope Is Gone. "This is something I need to release before moving on to something else."
Taylor currently has about 40-50 songs that he has been working on, and he is now considering which of them will be included in the album.
"Some of them were written in the past, but I didn't finish them. In addition, there are many songs that I wrote over the past year," he explained.
"I don't give a damn what people think about it."
Given Slipknot's tour schedule until March 2009 and the decision to record a solo album, Kerrang! asked Corey what this means for his other band, Stone Sour. "You never know what's in store," he replied thoughtfully. "The guys in Stone Sour really want to record another album and get back on stage. This time they have a lot of material, and they are fully ready for anything, but we need to wait and see what happens in the near future, maybe even longer."
When asked why he feels he needs to release a solo album, he gave two reasons. Reason number one: "...over the past year and a half, my life has been filled with many ups and downs. There have been some really big changes, and I've accepted and come to terms with some of them quite easily." Reason number two: "Both in Slipknot and in Stone Sour, I am limited in how I can write and what I can write about. The beauty of creating a solo album is that I can write any song I want."
When asked what listeners can expect from the album, Corey replied: "some songs will be acoustic, others will be powerful rock songs, and there should also be something that I don't even know about yet. But I'm sure this is an album that has been inside me and I need to make it."
Corey says that after the album is released, he plans to support it on tour.

Yes, everything the developers have been working on, they should have released an album instead. Otherwise, we'll have to wait a long time for new content, but still, thanks for the news...
Slipknot’s new album will probably be released in 2012 :(. They seem to alternate with Stone Sour, whose album is supposed to be released in 2010 (presumably) :)
That’s exactly the point... Well, I hope the quality will be good, and S.O.A.D.’s solo album "Scars on broadway" didn’t impress me (Serj was great, though), but it would be better if they released albums as S.O.A.D., and Jonathan Davis continues to release solo albums...

As The Pulse of Radio reports, SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor excited the public by announcing the release of his solo album next year. The most important question for fans was what would happen to Corey's other band, STONE SOUR, whose last album ("Come What(ever) May") was released in 2006. Taylor said that he does not intend to change his priorities. "I think many people were wondering what would come out first - a solo album or a STONE SOUR album?" he says. "Everything points to the fact that we have a lot of work to do in STONE SOUR, and, in my opinion, if I start working on a solo album, it will destroy the foundation we have created for STONE SOUR. Therefore, starting in the fall, we plan to start working on a new STONE SOUR album."
Corey said he hopes to record the band's new album in January-February 2010 and release it in the spring.
He added that he would start working on his album around the same time, if possible.
Well, recently I started listening to this band, and I've already listened to two albums: Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses and All Hope Is Gone. They play really well, it's powerful and energetic, I have to say, and I think they'll be in my library for a long time. Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses is particularly great; I gave many of its songs a five-star rating, but All Hope Is Gone is a bit different, it's harsher than the previous one, but still listenable, and it has some good songs too. I've read that their earlier albums are even more intense, but I don't plan on listening to them yet.
