Posts from About AI – the intelligence of the computer.
I disagree with those who believe that several low-level heroes can match the strength of a single high-level hero. I play against the AI, which hires a dozen scout/conqueror heroes and spreads them across the map. IMO, this is the AI's main weakness, because even though it has plenty of resources, it doesn't always fully develop its cities:smile40::smile07: :smile07::smile40:!!!! One or two expeditions, and the AI is defeated!!!!
I think the problem is that the AI prioritizes things in its own way and simply doesn't see (or understand) the need to use certain spells. For example, the AI is terrified of ranged attacks (it prioritizes enemy archers and the "dodge" spell).
If only you knew how annoying this stupid AI is, which, even when it has a ton of powerful spells, continues to cast "dodge" on its units, even if I don't have any archers in my army.
It’s really simple: don’t play against the AI. :) In no strategy game can the AI be a worthy opponent. Except perhaps for classic games like chess, where the AI has been developed for decades.
If you don't want to play online, don't expect a decent opponent. Strategies are fully revealed only in multiplayer.
Currently, some kind of adequate AI is being developed for Starcraft as a separate project, but until then, the era of fully developed AI has not yet arrived, so it's not worth dreaming about it in Heroes.

I myself play online. I agree about the AI - right now it's:smile18:

I completely agree, but when playing through campaigns and single-player story maps, you'll inevitably encounter the AI's lack of intelligence (although scripts, often used in single-player games, help to alleviate the situation).
Oh, if you only knew how annoying this stupid AI is, which, despite having a ton of powerful spells, keeps casting evasion on its units, even if I don't have any archers in my army.
Exactly... that's why I now strictly forbid mage towers on maps. And I script the AI. /I only leave attack spells in its arsenal. It's just too dumb.
I completely agree. In Heroes, the five mage heroes are quite weak. Although... the AI skillfully uses mind control, celestial shield, and berserk, and nothing is scarier than that. I'll try changing the spell priorities. By the way, you can set priorities for artifacts, but I don't know about spells...
By the way, the AI is VERY smart in magic, tactics, and character development in Heroes 3. That's where you find a worthy opponent! That's why I often play Hota.
I noticed something here, by the way. If you give some creature a fire trap, the game crashes when it attacks.
This is a well-known fact; I had the same problem (I couldn't figure out the cause of the crashes until I read about it somewhere on this forum). I had to abandon the idea of giving fire traps to priests. PS: In this trap, only the name is "fire":smile04:. Units immune to fire receive damage from it, and phoenix feathers have no effect on it, nor does the ice shield - I had to rename this spell (perfectionism is perfectionism).
Is the AI smart in Heroes 3? Well, yes, "smart," playing against 7 AI opponents on a small map on very hard difficulty is an easy game.
On a small map, ANY AI is easily defeated. But I'm fighting 7 AI allies on a mega-large map (large map sizes were introduced in Hota), and it's VERY challenging. If even one of them gets diplomacy... In one game, I killed six out of seven. And suddenly, a necromancer (stats of 40) with 3000 Magma Elementals, 2000 Liches, and five more units of level 5-6, about 700 each (approximately, of course), attacks my hero (a Beastmaster, level 37, with stats of 30-50). And no amount of resurrection with an explosion helps me (he also summoned five hundred Fire Elementals and killed thirty Hydras with an explosion). He defeats me, losing only 10% of his army. And that's what you call a "victory." And this was even before Hota. In short, killing an AI before it develops is one thing, but fighting 7 developed armies is another. One mistake – death.
Added 2 minutes later Unfortunately, you can't set a priority for spells. So, may combat scripts be with us.
