Only if you level up the "education" branch and the "deciphering secrets" skill, will you be able to access the enemy hero's menu during a battle and see everything they have: their skills, spells, artifacts, and the biography you need.

And one more thing: if you intend to play the original game or "Hammers of Fate," there is no way to view the biography and information about the enemy hero during battle.
