Regarding unanswered messages in ICQ. There was information that the new ICQ always shows an online status, and all messages go nowhere (when the opponent is actually offline). And it's really unclear - did the opponent read and ignore, or is the opponent simply offline for a long time? Here are 2 options: 1) Opponents in the game write to each other (without waiting for an invitation to play). Maybe they'll connect. 2) Opponents write in the tournament thread and arrange things through the tournament website. And a 3rd option - use the old ICQ. Personally, when I'm offline, the old ICQ also shows me as offline. And messages do get through.

The old trick works correctly; the latest update of ICQ, installed without my knowledge, prevented me from going offline.

And here's option 3 - use the old ICQ. Personally, I have the old version, and when I'm offline, it shows me as offline. And messages still get through.

There's also option 4 - use more modern and advanced messengers... Skype, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc. Also, VK and OK.

Unfortunately, it seems impossible to install the old ICQ. The new version is an ugly piece of software without contact groups, and QIP is buggy (but it doesn't seem to be losing messages anymore).

If there are problems coordinating via ICQ (or similar), there is always the tournament forum – if a person participates in it, they can write on the forum. If a person is unresponsive, no matter what software you install on their computer, it won't help.
