Railag is awesome!

Raelag for the campaign, Sinistar for multiplayer.

In campaigns, it's definitely Railag; for everything else, it's Lethos. I first encountered this guy in the "Challenge" scenario; he was my enemy and decimated half of my army before it even entered the battle. After that, I always hire him, and I don't regret it, as he's a powerful spellcaster.
True, necromancers don't care about his plague, but everyone else dies like flies.
And I also like Vaishan, and in the sixth part, Castor.

Raiglag is the most overpowered, but that’s obvious. Also, Synitar, Iranna, Erin, Leto, and many others are quite good, except for those associated with the Dark Ritual – they aren’t very suitable, although for some reason, many heroes are linked to this special ability.

I prefer to play with random heroes, but in my opinion, the following are the strongest:
Raelag (from the "Hammers of Fate" version). His specialization is extremely powerful – +1% to the initiative of friendly creatures and +1% to the initiative of enemy creatures for each level!
Vaishan. He has so many scouts, and scouts are strong, so you can immediately upgrade them to rangers! And rangers stand out with their invisibility and the highest damage output among level 1 creatures (3-5).
Synitar. The best warlock of Chaos magic. Because he has the "Arcane Wave" skill available from the very beginning, and his specialization reduces the cost of enhanced spells.
Iranna. She stands out with a large amount of experience and beasts (there are nine of them). Upgrade them to furies, and an unstoppable onslaught will begin with skillful use!

Railag and Letos are unmatched.

Letos, Antonich, only Letos. Forget about that noob Railag. Only Letos. And Vaishik for hardcore players (with Summoning, of course).

I like Irana. A big advantage at the start is the "Initial Education" skill, and although her beasts aren't very durable, they deal decent damage by level 30. Another significant advantage is that she isn't restricted in her choice of magic schools, unlike Sinithar, Lethos, Erin, or Irbeth, and this is very important in multiplayer games. I often choose the Summoning school for her; the Lord of Magic and Fire Wars skills work very well on high-level Dark Elf units.
