Tournament "PATH TO OLYMPUS"

EPILOGUE:

Since new tournaments, both online and offline, appear in the Heroes community every day – or rather, they don't appear at all. I decided to organize and run this tournament. The idea of the tournament is as old as the world itself – only those participants whom I personally approve will be able to participate in it, with the exception of cases where AK prohibits someone from participating. Basically, this category includes players with 1700+ rating points, but I repeat that this criterion is not mandatory for everyone.
The prize fund for the tournament will be 10,000 rubles plus sponsorship money from anyone who wants to contribute. The distribution of prizes will be as follows:
1st place – 70%;
2nd place – 30%.
If you like the idea of the tournament, want to support it, and have the means, any material assistance will go towards increasing the prize fund (all my contact information is provided; call, write, etc.).
Details on how to support the tournament and increase its prize fund:

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Tournament organizer: Dark (303751774).
Tournament judges: Dark (303751774), skd (593626431).
2. The tournament takes place according to the current forum rules, which are currently /topic/10593/.
3. Version for SoD 3.2 (4.0) +HD-mod game.
4. Template selection is done by choosing from a list of 9 templates: 2SM4d(3), Jebus cross, 8xm12a, 8mm6a, 6LM10a, Spider, 8хm8а, Mini-nostalgia, Diamond marked in red in the table starts selecting templates first. In the group stage, red indicates the player listed first in the pair (e.g., No. 1 vs. No. 3, meaning No. 1 is red).
Changes to the main rules regarding the timer:
4.1. Chess timer:
for l+y 16+6+1,
for hl+y 16+8+1,
for jebus 21+8+1.15. (roads only FAST!)
Total restarts 113 (111+111+111, 112+111, 113).
Random castle selection and trade:
The host generates a random pair of castles using a special button. Immediately after generation, each player can request a regeneration once for 500 coins as compensation to their opponent. If at least one castle repeats during regeneration, that same player has the right (but is not obligated) to request one free regeneration. Trading begins with the player who is not the host of the game. If identical castles are drawn (so to speak), a free regen is carried out if at least one player expresses a desire. Provided that both agree to play mirror match, players have the right to ban 1 hero each; the host of the game starts banning heroes. In this case, there is also trading for heroes after the ban.
Color trade.
Starting January 11, 2017, on the Mini-nostalgia template, the order of computer selection will be determined by flipping a coin.
4.2. Guild of Mages restructuring – enabled.
4.3. One-sided unit replacement – disabled.
5. All tournament games will count towards the seasonal rating; an report must be provided for each played game (the organizer has the right to remove a player from the tournament if the player does not confirm the report for the previous game(s)).
6. Saves of all matches must be saved until the end of the tournament and saves and passwords must be presented upon first request from organizers and judges of the tournament. Failure to provide a password may result in a technical defeat. It should also be noted that passwords for saves must also be provided to opponents upon their first request after the game is played; failure to comply with this rule will result in disciplinary action up to and including disqualification.
7. All controversial issues are resolved through the organizer or judges of the tournament. Organizers and judges follow the current forum rules and logic in contentious situations.
8. The organizer reserves the right not to allow a player to participate in the tournament without explanation.
9. If a participant cannot personally agree with their opponent on a game, they must immediately notify the judge. In such cases, the judge decides on scheduling an ODD (One Day Delay).
Minimum game time when scheduling an ODD – 5 hours.
10. There will be 40 participants, and the tournament will be awarded Official status, and the winner will receive an award under their avatar (in development).
11. The winner of the tournament will have the right to participate in the Wild card tournament for FB-11.
12. By submitting your application, you agree to the regulations and terms of the tournament.
13. The tournament organizer reserves the right to change the rules at its discretion, guided by common sense and logic.

TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS

GROUP STAGE

1. Each group has 5 people; 2 players who score the most points advance from the group.
In case of equal points in a group, the following items will be considered first:
a) Berger coefficient (calculated only based on results shown in the group),
b) Head-to-head match,
c) Points scored in the game "weigh" more than technical defeats,
d) Decision of judges.
2. Seeding into groups is done according to the overall rating at the discretion of the organizer. Aim for no more than 2 players in a group with the same rating range.
3. Players in each group will be assigned numbers: No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5. The order of games in the group will occur as follows:
Round 1 – No. 1 vs. No. 2 and No. 3 vs. No. 4;
Round 2 – No. 5 vs. No. 1 and No. 3 vs. No. 2;
Round 3 – No. 4 vs. No. 1 and No. 2 vs. No. 5;
Round 4 – No. 1 vs. No. 3 and No. 4 vs. No. 5;
Round 5 – No. 5 vs. No. 3 and No. 2 vs. No. 4.
The order of games in the groups is mandatory for everyone, but if you have the opportunity to additionally play the remaining games within these deadlines, no one will object.
4. The deadline for each game in the group stage is 10 days.
5. Draws are not possible at this stage. In case of controversial situations regarding the results of a game or an unfinished game within the deadline, saves from such a game may be submitted to the tournament judges for adjudication.
Awarding points:
Victory – 3 points; defeat – 0.

FULL DOUBLE ELIMINATION STAGE

1. Two players with first and second place advance from the groups, then a draw is held between (precisely) the groups where the first places play against the seconds and vice versa.
2. Losers' finals and winners' finals are played according to the principle of (bo3 – best of three). The grand final is played according to the principle of (bo5 – best of five), starting with a score of 1-0 in favor of the player from the upper bracket.
3. For template selection, red will be the player who is higher in the table.
4. Players in the losers' finals, winners' finals, and grand final must stream all games live on www.heroes3.tv. Players who neglect this rule or who do not have the ability to stream or experience technical problems will be disqualified from the tournament without exception. In other words, no streaming - ban (you will have almost the entire tournament to comply with this requirement).
5. The deadline for each game in the playoffs is 14 days, except for all finals. Deadlines for the finals will be announced during the tournament.

TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION:

1. Registration will last for 2 days, from September 27 to September 29 until 12:00 PM (inclusive).
2. The group stage of the tournament will start on September 30.
3. To register, you must indicate your nickname on the forum and ICQ (required).
4. Applications from participants with unconfirmed reports will be rejected until the corresponding reports are confirmed.

EPILOGUE

In conclusion, I want to say that if you are unhappy with the rules of the tournament or have a personal dislike for the organizer of this competition or anything else – please don't waste your nerves and time and do not register :). Good luck to everyone!!!

The game turned out to be incredibly tense—both in real life (an unfinished virus decided to complicate things in my body) and in terms of in-game decisions, to which the map issued a diagnosis of "suboptimal":

1. I found 5 Griffin Conservatories, but all were solitary and deep in the respawn! I did manage to gather them, but had to constantly hire/dismiss peasants and chain them to the next Conservatory, barely farming the rest of the map... In total, it yielded 7 angels; if I'd known that, I could have profitably skipped a couple of distant ones, but alas....!
2. I refused pathfinding with goblins to have time to level Earth magic before the Griffin Conservatory Opening, since at that point I hadn't seen any boxes at all—but on the same turn, a peasant who picked up the purse to capture a corner village spots a fat box behind a horde of logs
Plans abruptly change—instead of taking the Conservatory, accelerating at stables, smashing for mana and running to the GO, the goblin turns toward the box, eats a ton of XP (including the guard), leveling even more slots in Earth, but the village turns out to be unguarded and the goblin has to run on foot to the well (which is more profitable than a distant dig in the main or replenishing in the village)
Instead of coming out on 122 or 123 with a running start, I came out on the same turn but on 124 and without stables; and because of gathering Conservatories in the world's rear, I couldn't move anyone toward the GO yet

As a result, I not only crawled like a snail, but also initially picked up relics in person with a penalty, even though I tried my best not to leave the roads

The opponent, besides 3 stacks of devils, had a well right next to the GO, and even bordering the road, which imho was a huge game-changer

I see Brone, the final 1st-level town, so I first had to break through a block of archdevil packs; there was no tactics; behind them, by the way, was a level-30 prison, gauntlets, an obelisk, and piles of resources, but I couldn't take them because I attacked Brone on the last move, and everything then went to the opponent
The battle was under Orb; stats were +5 attack, defense equal, but the Cloak + 2 speed decided it—the final fight against 11 devils and 38 dragons was not only won with an army of 6 angels (1 died from devils), ~300 skeletons, 10 each of horses and dragons, but I also had enough purse left to farm the center
And here I make the main mistake, which stressed me the most but also made the game fun: above, above the fork with Brone, there was a prison, bracers, and Necromancy Boots! Since some blue cleric had made a bunch of moves ahead of me along the road, I thought that Brone, if coming from above, would definitely have time to break through, and a peasant surely had enough moves to open the prison and deny my goblin such relevant goodies
So even without scouting the land (which I didn't have), I was sure—when I sent a peasant along a clear road to scout blue (instead of whom he scouted almost the entire center) and the goblin ran up the gorge—but alas, the eaten Dragon Fly Hives and then the fork with a passage to lava quickly told me how wrong I was...
At night, Brone emerges at the fork with a growth of several devils and other rabble and sits on the Dragon Fly Hive I had just recaptured; I didn't have enough moves left to attack, which saved me
Full trade, exchange, and we finally replenish mana at home from the magic taken in the box for all of 5th-level, leaving Brone without devils and without mana
But alas, the well is close, and blue tries to farm the center with chains, while I finish clearing my respawn, planning to then break into the grass adjacent zone
But plans had to be changed urgently—the opponent, knowing about Shackles, for some reason leaves Brone on the road with 9 monarchs, and the goblin from the darkness with a jump catches them on the last move—already the 2nd time this game))
Blue, meanwhile, recapturing something, tries to use peasants from prisons to carry the purse further away
The plan succeeded, but not fully—the goblin, now having a log in the 7th slot, this time didn't catch them but managed to block the path to the rest of the chain for Arlash without a spellbook
Blue has the option to either run further, knowing they'll be caught next turn, or fight 62 monarchs with what's left
Arlash went at the monarchs, broke through and even chained away the remnants of the army, but forces were weakened, and after a couple of turns blue capitulates

gg, thanks for the game))

the game turned out to be incredibly sweaty -- both in real life (an undefeated virus decided to complicate things in my body) and in terms of in-game decisions, to which the map gave a diagnosis of "suboptimal":

I did manage to gather them, but for that I constantly had to buy/fire peasants and chain them to the next conservatory, barely farming the rest of the map... in total it came out to 7 angels, if only I had known -- I could have profitably entertained a couple of distant ones, but alas....!
2. I refused Pathfinding on Goshi to have time to level up Earth magic before the GO, since at that point I hadn't seen any boxes at all, literally, but on the same turn, a peasant who picked up the purse to capture a corner village spots a huge fat box behind a horde of woodcutters
plans change drastically -- instead of taking the conservatory, speeding up at stables, breaking for mana and running to the GO, Goshi turns towards the box, devours a terrible amount of experience -- also on the guard -- leveling up a bunch more slots for Earth magic, but the village turns out to be empty and Goshi has to run on foot to the well (which is more profitable than both a distant break in the main and replenishing in the village), thus never visiting the stables -- instead of coming out on 122 or 123 with a speed boost, he came out on the same turn but on 124 and without stables, while due to collecting conservatories in the middle of nowhere, he couldn't advance anyone towards the GO yet

as a result, not only was I crawling like a snail, but at first I was also picking up relics in person with a penalty, even though I tried my best not to stray from the roads

the opponent, besides 3 external dwellings of devils, had a well next to the GO, and right next to the road too, which imho decided a lot

at night, Bron crawls out to the fork with the growth of several devils and other riffraff and stands on the Dragon Fly Hive I had just captured, I didn't have enough moves left to attack, which is what saved me
full trade, exchange, and we finally replenish mana at home for the magic taken from the box for the entire 5th level, leaving Bron without devils and without mana
but alas, the well is close, and blue tries to farm the center with chains, while I finish off my respawn, planning to then break into the grass adjacent zone

GG, thanks for the game))

We played as usual without restarts. I had a great setup with 3 external dwellings of devils and 4 Dragon Fly Hives with my native village. On turn 1 I built the devil dwelling, captured 3 external dwellings and built wyverns for upgrade. But as always I needed to crab and not build a tavern to bring the wyverns back. I had to go out with regular ones, which decided the first fight -- I could have ended the game earlier, on turn 125. But that wasn't to be, I had to exchange with the opponent like crazy, I bought back 17 Wyverns, and he had 10 wyverns and 8 necro horses. The opponent decided I would take a long time to come out and went forward. At the same time I had Speed Boots and the next turn upgraded those wyverns and went on the attack since the opponent had nothing left, and with turn 131 coming up and a growth of 7 devils doing their job. On turn 2 I attacked the opponent and there was almost a zero-sum exchange, the opponent buys back and
goes home to gather troops and replenish mana. I decide to mess around in the center, pick up Dragon Fly Hives and plan to consume the center. On turn 135 the opponent comes out with Dimension Door:smile20: and bracers. Kills my main at speed boost well without artifacts. He already has 350 skeletons and 20+ wyverns, necro meat. I decide to run further into the center and try to capture objects, hoping to find a main in prisons. But not having mass magic, I couldn't break through strong guards and they set a trap for me where I couldn't pass with the remaining army and sort it out. Thanks for the game to Vova:smile20:

We played with a rollback, naturally. But the spawns were pretty weak and all without elves. This one was no exception, so I had to play through upgrading Centaurs (about 50 of them). Along the way, a stable and there's Moandor, but little gold.
At first, there were only 4-5 heroes; by the end of the week I managed to earn a bit, capture +4 attack, take the Conflux village, and build horses in the Citadel. Meanwhile, Moandor got Expert Necromancy at level 3 and raised 90 skeletons + luckily captured the brown Dungeon, which had 2k income built :smile12:
Then I raised some more skeletons, took a Dragon Fly Hive for 8, found a Devil in a Refugee Camp. Then I bought Kyrre earth for Griffin Conservatory 3-4 and frantically tried to max it, refusing Offense and Armor (which, by the way, decided the game :smile29: )
Also found +1 Speed and Gauntlets
On day 125 there was an unpleasant encounter; in the adjacent zone of brown was Moner with 5+ Angels, pasturing a Dragon Utopia, but apparently unclaimed! Next turn, Moner just with birds cut down my carelessly exposed Moandor. I almost wanted to surrender, but recklessly with power, after driving off Moner, I ran through some lift + portal and with the last move of a loh reached the green Necro  , with an Amplifier of course. There I bought another Necro with basics, took a Dwarf Cottage + a Madhouse with them, and it seems a counterattack plan started to take shape :smile14:
On day 126 Kyrre with Oil takes Griffin Conservatory 3 and aims for the Dragon Utopia, while it's not visible, and apparently the blues think I'm incapable of this :D
On day 127 I even had the chance to check the Dragon Utopia - 3 tiers! 300 skeletons, 3 angels, 5 horses, 8 Wyverns and captains with Kyrre 7-14 crush the Dragon Utopia to splinters, though without Shield (only Stone Skin). 200 skeletons and 3 angels survived, but the rewards were decent:

On my turn, Sandro drives me off with power, since I had no mana or decent magic, I just bought myself out with Tactics.
Then I went to a big treasure zone on lava in the underground. There's a max Dragon Utopia: killed 2 angels, horses, and 60 skeletons. But got useful stuff

On days 135-136, my Sraker took the Conflux village and main. But I got lucky and built GM5 in the Dungeon, which gave Dimension Door on the first try. I break out of the treasure zone with Kyrre, she has Air, breaks out again and jumps into another treasure zone in the sands. There right in a box is all the earth :smile13: In a couple of days I cleared the main stuff in the treasure zone: 2 Dragon Utopias and several Hives, collected 44 ducks, and also found on the ground

Useful from the Dragon Utopias and

After that I hopped around to clean the treasure zone on lava, and the game was still being played with one hero  Even though work there was done through Sraker, Sandro, and Moner, it didn't cause much trouble. I still controlled 3-4 castles, which was enough for me.
So Kyrre cleaned the treasure zone on lava in a couple of days, taking several Hives and 4 Dragon Utopias. The long-awaited All3 for the alliance never came; instead a pile of useless artifacts, not even another pair of Boots, +2 Speed, or Bracers.
In another Dragon Utopia I later found a Cuirass 4-4, and my stats were always higher than Moner's. I also had 100+ ducks, 600 skeletons, and then +10 archangels, but only lots of ducks and no skeletons at all.
From the second month I quickly leveled Gunnar, who arrived on day 145, but by day 147 was still level 1. I bought him Air in addition to Earth, and also added Piquedram as a support with 2 Dimension Doors. I couldn't make anyone else useful.
In general, I started hard power-stacking, and luckily my opponent didn't particularly interfere. I captured 3 computer Infernos, built Devils there, and also took 2 external dwellings of them in the same treasure zone on lava. I wasn't ready to engage, because the fallen stats clearly indicated CS+AOTD
By the end of the first week of month 2, I finally found the only Swamp village on the map, and there was also a library with a couple of Conservatories and a Cloak of Velocity... mmm :smile20:
In general, the conveyor belt for producing skeleton-demons and all sorts of other imps :smile51: worked quite reliably, and at the beginning of the second month Moner finally left the castle and I managed to upgrade 7 archangels. Seeing my power and how cleanly I started taking his castles (while killing his supports with archdevils), Zhenya realized I wouldn't get tired of power-stacking, and surrenders.

+ another unprocessed 50-70 demons

There I buy another Necromancer with a basic skill set, take the Dwarf Cottage + Haspids with him, and well, a counterattack plan begins to take shape :smile14:
On day 126 Kyrre with the main army takes Griffin Conservatory level 3 and targets the Dragon Utopia, while she is not visible, and apparently, blue thinks I am incapable of this :D

Towards the end of the first week of month 2 I finally found the only Swamp village on the map, and there was also a Library with a couple of Conservatories and a Cape of Speed... mmm :smile20:

Thank you for the game!
Well, to put it mildly, it wasn't my best game, the setup allowed me to finish as early as the 3rd week, but for some reason I decided to start with a different Dragon Utopia on day 126 (also level 3 but a failure in artifacts), and I also planned to take the Dragon Utopia Vanya took on day 127... but red explained to me all my wrongdoings. Then in 3 days I broke 2 more max Dragon Utopias and one level 1, losing almost everything except Angels and birds, but my stats still remained lower than Vanya's after his 1st Dragon Utopia and also no magic protection whatsoever. Then again I apparently misjudged priorities - I understood that I needed to take the Conflux village, and through it the main town, which was closest to two super-treasure zones on the snow, but why I didn't try to spend another day taking the remaining towns I don't know, I got fixated on the thought that I needed to frantically search for stats or magic protection (Kyrre there was already shining with SP close to 30 I think, while mine was 15).
Thank you for the game.

On the first map, I frantically searched for my hometown near the portal guarded by the guards. In the end, I captured it on day 117, also grabbing a useless Mantis lair. Everything was fine, except for the extreme poverty. On day 131, I take a Utopia with a crown. I make a mistake by not leaving artifacts for mana doubling, and then I realize that Gunnar is within reach and can rush with 21 ducks (Monarchs). Another problem is that I still don't have Slow. I attack with almost no mana, but it seems they also have money problems. I waited until the guards could break through - game over. Thank you for the game.

Everything was fine, except for the total lack of resources.

I was told that there were suspicions about someone watching a stream. Here's what happened: I saw the opponent's hero move to the Treasury. I decided to use the Stable to position myself for an attack, planning to follow up with an Implosion spell, reinforcements, and a Minotaur upgrade. I made a mistake by not leaving artifacts for doubling movement points, which, by the way, says a lot – I should have known exactly where my opponent was, their financial situation, and whether they had any slow spells. If so, I would have deliberately attacked, first sending a scout for reconnaissance. As it was, I had only a few movement points left, and I didn't want to waste them on the scout, as I still needed to buy something. I flew in for reconnaissance, hoping to get there. In the end, it was 460 movement points, right on the edge. Next time, before accusing someone, you should listen to their side of the story.

Here's what happened: I saw the opponent's hero heading to the Treasury. I decided to use the Stable to gain movement points and then attack with an Implosion spell, reinforcements, and a Minotaur upgrade. I messed up by not leaving artifacts for doubling movement points. This actually says a lot – if I knew exactly where the opponent was, their financial situation, and that they didn't have any slowing effects, I would have deliberately launched an attack, first sending a scout for reconnaissance.
But in this case, I had only a few movement points left, and I didn't want to waste them on the scout, as I still needed to buy something. I flew in for reconnaissance, hoping to get something. In the end, I had 460 movement points left, just enough.
So, next time, before accusing someone, you should listen to them.
Well, firstly, I didn't accuse you, I just suggested! Secondly, I think it's logical to think that way, especially since you had the option of using a scout for reconnaissance, and if it didn't reveal anything, you could have used the remaining movement points on the main hero to get +1 attack. I would do it that way 100 out of 100 times. That's why I expressed my thought.

you had a choice to take the scout as a loser, and if it didn't show anything, for the remaining moves of the main you could have taken +1 attack stat. .
I think I explained that buying the loser wasn't profitable. In any case, there were enough moves for Dimension Door, which reached many places + a move to attack the father or the loser with powerful
