I played using a similar system. Our gnome mage, after receiving a quest, decided that descending the stairs was too mainstream. He jumped out of the window and cast levitation on himself. As a result of a failed roll, he got burned during the fall and then crashed to the ground. We had to spend some of the party's resources to revive him.

I'm against critical failures. I'll personally implement something similar as an ability for one of the annoying factions. Just an idea...

Heh, critical hits... It's a shame there's no real luck mechanic here, like in Heroes of Might and Magic V. Maybe then even Yshur would play with us (but I doubt it).
