I found a thread on HC, but it seems the mod has been completely merged with Heroes 5.5, and the author is no longer releasing it separately. However, maybe farfromrefuge will appear and somehow resolve this situation.

The thread is likely abandoned, but I'll give it a shot. The mod is very cool, and the textures are well-made, but there's one problem. When I install this mod, the water looks like this: I've tried reinstalling it, but the water still looks the same.

Seawater always looks "like that" if you don't set the correct parameters. That is, there's a ground texture at the bottom, and it's visible through the water.
You can get rid of this effect, but I personally don't know how; I just applied river water to seawater.

Yes, the game performance noticeably decreases on weaker hardware.

Here's a great mod for Heroes V graphics from 2012, called Heroes V Graphics Overhaul. It's twice the size of the one described in this thread: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=37356&pagenumber=3. The download link is in the 4th post from the top, and the installation instructions are in the 2nd post. Please note that the version circulating online, including the one in the header of the heroescommunity forum in the general list of modifications, which weighs 199 MB, is an alpha version. After following the instructions, the resulting mod should weigh approximately 325 MB. This is the release version. For comparison, here's the same terrain with both mods.
